Tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe and he'll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint on it and he'll have to touch to be sure.

Question: Are those Nano Phosphate batteries by A123? They don't look like they are, looks like the same type of 18650 cells you see in other Li-on's devices.

Thanks for the reference, did you take a pack completely apart? and if so are the batteries soldered in place? it almost looks like in the picture they snap into the plastic battery holder......now that would make it very easy for a hobbyist to replace them down the road.
Thanks

I did not take the pack's completely apart, however for someone who has electronics/soldering skills could probably replace these packs with no problem. ALTHOUGH DOING SO WILL MOST LIKELY VOID ANY SORT OF WARRANTY!

FYI........
DeWalt launch the new compact 14.4v battery DE9141 for EUR, it comes with the same Sony cells used in the Compact 18v. This is a 5 cell pack and it literally out performs most 1.3 and 1.5ah 14.4v competitor packs.

I cannot go into specific details but the battery can work in extremely cold enviroments where as the competition will not even work.

When I bought mine, they had green stickers on the lithium ion batteries as well. It's the initial "break-in" charge.

Li battery packs are shipped dormant; that means when you first get it the battery will not work in the tool, you have to place it in the charger to activate.

Am I seeing this right, 6 cells? So 19.8V nominal? Phosphate batteries are 3.3V per cell nominal.
And the new 20V MAX packs are 18V nominal! Seems backwards to me.
