Hello all, I have been lurking around here for a bit, and a lot of the stuff here pushed me to buy DeWalt. Had some old Black and Decker stuff that finally crapped out on me, and being a person that buys the best, I went for DeWalt. I started off replacing my tools with the Compact Lithium-Ion 18v Drill/Driver and Impact Driver set. First off, I love the tools, they work great. However, my Impact Driver gives off that Ozone burning smell. Everything works fine on the drill with the exception of that smell. I went back to Lowes and asked some people if this was normal. I was told in a pretty passive tone "It's no big deal, all new drills have a bit of a smell." The guy was so confident in this that he wouldn't even take the time for me to get the drill out and show him. Tried to call DeWalt, but its the weekend, so I will try again on Monday. Other than that, I thought I would get a second opinion on here, knowing you guys are a bit more unbiased than reps of the company. Thanks in Advance. Smiley

It's the type of brushes used, it put's off a heck of an odor for awhile until the brushes are fully broke in. The guy's at lowes are correct, it's ok. Last week I swapped out my older DC826 for a newer one, it put's off a wreak! The smell is normal, and will wear off as the drill breaks in.
