I think they are currently Sanyo's lowest capacity battery in the 18mm x 65mm series.

Aren't the cells in the 12v max batteries sanyo's as well?

Sanyo ma kes a lot of different cells. Ryobi is using the bottom of the barrell Dewalt is at the top of the barrel.

I think they are 1.3Ah cells

The 12v is using the SAX cell, the SA which is used in the ryobi is a little under-performing

Just to re-clarify. Sanyo makes many cells, this way you can pick and choose which cell works best for your application, and cost control. Ryobi being a consumer tool, felt it un-necessary to use a higher grade cell.... most likely because of cost.
