Amazon just had a gold box sale on the DC725KA with two compact nicd batteries and charger for $97.   I've been wanting a good cordless drill for around the house.  This seemed like a crazy good deal, so I jumped on it. I hope it turns out to be as good a score as it seems, even with the older NiCd batteries.

I recommend the Dewalt DCD970.
There is a bunch of new (but opened) kits on ebay right now (minus 1 battery) for just $215 with free s/h in the US.

Oh dang, I just realized the first post is over 1.5 years ago.

DC725 is a great gun for the price and weight. I think my gears are finally starting to strip out. I abuse it quite badly. Ever chuck up a 1"x18" ship auger and expect it to go through a double top plate? I do with mine
