Can a 18v ni-cad battery be used in a drill that comes with li-ion battery?

Yes.  The 18v DeWALT batteries are all compatible in all 18v DeWALT tools ever made.  There are a few obscure tools that came with NiCad batteries that didn't allow a lion battery because of a piece of plastic being in the way, but in the off chance that you had/have one, it is a free alteration at the service centers.  The only non-compatible part is that you cannot charge a lithium battery in the black charger; the yellow charger will charge all DeWALT batteries from 7.2 through 18v ever made.

So that is the long winded way of saying "yes".
