It's my understanding that the app just help's navigate the site better from a mobile device? Is there anything else nifty that was added to the app? I switched from IOS to Android.

Craftsman has an app too. 
It has World of DIY Projects (gun rack, shed, kids bench...) & Podcasts, Shopping, New Product Innovations, Store Locator, News....
